Digital Jobs Fair For Job Seekers Held At Accra Digital Centre

Job Seekers have been advised to make themselves relevant during the period of job seeking.

According to Anthony Twum Barima, a Senior Program Manager of Microsoft, this would position them appropriately for jobs they are seeking to be enrolled in.

Mr. Anthony Twum Barima, was speaking as the Keynote Speaker, at the second edition of the annual Accra Digital Jobs Fair, organized by Ghana Tech Lab and Zongovation Hub on Friday September 10, 2021.

The event was on the theme; ‘‘Building Resilient Creatives for the Job Market’’ and was held at the Accra Digital Center.

‘‘To ensure that you are relevant, you need to scale up and take advantage of opportunities that are available,’’ he told participants.

Mr. Twum Barima indicated that Ghana and the world at large are currently in the digital era and that people looking for jobs need to catch up with the trends in order to access available jobs.

He noted that it is a must for everyone, especially job seekers in the economy, to be digitally inclined and called on participants to acquire digital skills.

‘‘Set new goals for yourself, learn new trends in the technology industry, acquire basic skills such as coding, and do not be afraid to seek freelance opportunities when you are looking for a job,’’ he advised the participants.

Andrew Akoto Addo, Investment Associate, Ghana Tech Lab in his welcome address indicated that the organization is leading a drive towards Ghana’s digital transformation.

He added that in partnership with Mastercard Foundation the company is rolling out the Pathways for Sustainable Employment Project, which is aimed at creating 3 million jobs for the youth across the country by 2030.

‘‘Together with 17 partner hubs across all 16 regions of the country, GTL organizes the Base program which is aimed at empowering youth with Digital skills annually,’’ he added.

He indicated that this year’s cohorts were trained in Digital Media and that the job fair is part of the employability aspect of the program to connect trainees to job opportunities.

‘‘In the light of creating jobs, this Digital Job Fair is aimed at connecting and linking youth to job opportunities and also to network.’’
