Is This Thing On? Samsung’s AI Assistant Won’t Support Voice Commands When The Galaxy S8 Launches

During Samsung’s launch of the Galaxy S8, they hyped up their new AI assistant, Bixby, and stated that the AI would have a dedicated button and users would able to use voice commands for tasks they would normally do by interacting with the touchscreen.

But it seems that that particular feature will not be available when Samsung launches the Galaxy S8 on April 21st. Owners of the S8 will have to wait for a software update which will be forthcoming in the next few months.

It’s a bit confounding that Samsung can’t have their voice command available in time for the launch of the S8. The other features of the AI which include the ability to identify objects in real time will be available.

Though it won’t be a big deal for many, Samsung appears to be off to a slow start if they’re going to be competing with the likes of other AI assistants from Google and Apple.
